Reminiscing on our first event...The Crest Cruise. The idea behind the cruise was an event for the individuals that enjoy driving their cars through some beautiful scenery and be able to somewhat travel back in time when these cars would be on the road regularly. After thinking about all of the amazing driving destinations, we ultimately decided upon the Los Angeles Crest (one of my favorite roads that I grew up driving). We set the meetup in La Canada and were going to drive up to elevation to the famous Newcomb's Ranch, which had sadly closed its doors throughout the pandemic. The Ranch opened back in 1939, and became a roadhouse for all local travelers. It sits as 5,340 feet of elevation in the middle of a winding canyon road with tress running along aside of it. I figured people used to drive up there in their new cars back in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, so why shouldn't we explore it now with our cars from those eras. We were so happy at the outcome and really hope everyone enjoyed the cruise. The best part about it for me, was being able to look at my rear view mirror and see a snake of classic Volkswagen winding through the turns. Hoping to have more events this year; and will be having a second annual Crest Cruise for sure.
